Frequently Asked Questions
About Me
Q: What comic/anime conventions do you plan to be at for 2024?
A: I will be at:
Q: Where can I purchase things from you?
There are a couple options! My mainstay is my Etsy shop, but I do keep a small number of works on Redbubble as well. You can also purchase from me in person at any of the anime/comic conventions I am attending!
Never purchase anything from a site that is not on this list. Unfortunately, the internet is rife with people who list fake listings that appear to be authentic, but then take your money and run. Watch out for these scams! Any of the sites listed above are safe and managed by me.
Q: Where did the name "Moonphire Design" come from? How do you pronounce "Moonphire?"
A: The name "Moonphire Design" came from an exercise I had done back in my high school art/advertising class where we had to come up with our own brand and name. I have always stuck with this name and will likely never change it. It was the first brand I had ever come up with so I am very attached to it.
"Moonphire" is pronounced "Moon fire." The "ph" just takes the place of the "f" in fire. Why? Well, because it seemed cool.
Q: What made you decide to be an artist?
A: I had always loved drawing and art ever since I was a child which is what drove me to pursue a degree in art.
Q: Then why do you have a Masters degree in Library Science?
A: As I was working through my Bachelors degree, I decided that I wanted a stable, full-time income that has health insurance. So, I decided to pursue a Masters in Library and Information Science, instead of art. I enjoy being a librarian, however, I would still love to be a full time artist someday!
Q: What inspires you?
A: I am most inspired by the natural world. Particularly animals like wolves and cats. While fanart is fun to make, I find my best work is done based on nature. But I've also got a love for fantasy due in part of my love of reading fantasy books, so dragons and phoenixes are a favorite of mine as well.
Sharing/Reposting Artwork
Q: Can I share, use, or repost any of your artwork?
A: Sharing and reposting is fine as long as your credit me or provide a link to this website. Using my artwork for profit or personal use without having obtained permission is strictly forbidden.
If you would like to use a work for non-profit purposes, please fill out my contact form and provide details on what the artwork would be used for.
Purchasing Items & Requesting Commissions
Q: Why is your Etsy store selection sometimes limited?
A: During comic convention season, most of my products are created are held for the conventions I go to so I have enough to sell. This typically occurs during January-September. During the other part of the year, especially the holiday season, from October-December, my Etsy shop is as well stocked as I can keep it!
Q: I love your art! How do I order prints of something I saw on your "artwork" page? How do I order a commission?
A: Visit my Etsy store or visit me in artist alley at an upcoming comic convention. For commissions, please fill out the "Order a Commission" form from the top navigation menu describing the work you want done and I will respond within 24-48 hours.
Q: How long does it take to get a commission done?
A: This depends on the size of the project, but a good estimate is 3-6 weeks. If I am accepting comic con preorder commissions, please note that these take precedence over standard commissions that require shipping to an individual.
Q: Where can I purchase prints/plush toys/charms?
A: Please visit my Etsy store for plush toys and charms that are available all year round! Or visit me at a comic convention in artist alley to purchase something.
Q: Are your plushies/bead works/charms safe for small children/pets?
A: I do not recommend purchasing anything I create for a pet, baby, or small child. Plushies and bead works especially may have small pieces that could become dislodged/removed and could pose a potential choking hazard.
Shipping Items
Q: What methods do you use to ship items like plush toys, commissions, etc.?
A: My preferred method of shipping is USPS First Class mail. Should you need your order faster, please specify that you would like Priority Mail, Next Day, etc. in the comments field. Please be aware that this means your order will cost more for faster shipping.
Q: Do you ship outside of the United States?
A: Yes! I ship almost everywhere, however, I no longer ship to any countries in the EU. Please be aware that items may take a considerable amount of time to arrive if ordering internationally as items must go through Customs.
Q: Can you give me a quote on how much it would cost to ship something?
A: Yes, use the contact form and let me know what you're interested and where you are located and I can quote a price for you.
